Special Needs

A special needs cat is one with physical or mental disabilities that may make it difficult for them to live a normal life. Adopters often shy away from special needs cats because they’re looking for a “perfect” pet. Little do they know that special needs cats are just as perfect as one with no disabilities. They are loving, playful, and affectionate companions. Cats are one of the most resilient creatures on earth, and watching them adapt to their disabilities is nothing short of a miracle.
Special needs cats are not only overlooked by adopters, but also by other rescues and shelters. The potential financial burden alone often causes these cats to fall through the cracks and some shelters consider adoption placement too risky. Texas Cat Coalition’s mission is to protect and advocate for these cats. Our goal is to normalize the adoption of special needs cats and kittens, because we know they are oftentimes the most loving companions and deserve the best chance at life.

To continue to save cats with disabilities, your donations are essential. As a small rescue, diagnosing special needs cats, takes up a large portion of our budget. Specialized tests are expensive, and we frequently have to travel to larger cities for testing. If you would like to donate towards our medical expenses, click the link below.
